Join Emily Martin, mindfulness instructor, for a morning of nature awareness, watercolor painting, and cultural exploration at The History Museum of Hood River County.
We’ll set up art tables under the trees, grounding ourselves in nature before diving into painting. Each participant will receive an outline of the landscape by local artist Marcella Kriebel, along with watercolor supplies and easy instructions to create your painting.
All materials are provided, including the Gorge Art Box with supplies and iconic Gorge sketches. You’ll take home your hand-painted souvenir and the remaining contents of the Art Box to continue your creative journey.
Your experience also includes entry to TheHistory Museum to add a cultural touch to your day. No painting experience required—just a love for nature and creativity.

Discover & Go: Tales & Trails with Emily Martin
Join Emily Martin and the Hood River County Library District for a special outdoor Tales & Trails experience at some of the Gorge's most inspiring places. Using a free Discover & Go pass, participants will connect with the landscape through the Gorge Audio Trails project, listening to stories rooted in place and exploring how they relate to our own experiences and sense of belonging.
Each program includes a connection activity, an introduction to Gorge Audio Trails, a guided listening experience, grounding and reflection practices, and time for self-guided exploration at your own pace before gathering again for a closing circle.

Spring Awe Walks! Join Emily Martin, mindfulness meditation teacher for a bi-monthly walk. Each gathering includes grounding and time for connection with self, nature, & others. After a short grounding and connecting exercise as a group, participants will choose what their body and spirit needs that day—it could be going on the hike, relaxing, journaling, making art, taking photographs, communing with the wildflowers, chatting with others, making music, or just being with oneself. For each gathering Emily will choose the most appropriate location for given weather and wildflowers. Location TBD based on local conditions.

During the class, we will connect with each other, practice meditation, and discuss JoySpan: The Art and Science of Thriving in Life’s Second Half which is written by Dr. Kerry Burnright. Time: 5:30-7 PM.
Format: Connection, sharing, and practice. Light snacks and tea provided. Offered in Spanish and English.
Overview/Purpose: Join Emily Martin, mindfulness teacher and Gabi Pacheco, instructional assistant, for 4 community wellness sessions focused on effective mind-body strategies for stress-relief, mindful parenting, and emotional regulation. Emily and Gabi will create a safe and tender circle focusing on connection, parent support, and straightforward, helpful tools for cultivating presence, joy, and peace. The goal is to nurture and care for ourselves together, build capacity for greater resilience, and walk away with tool to use on our own later. Our time together will be spent learning, practicing, and sharing. Please join us!
